Earth Month Updates

Community Partners, Spring Menu, Events & More

Spring in Rochester is always a reminder of fresh starts and new growth. And this year, as we celebrate Earth Month, that feels especially true.

At Sweet Pea, we’re inspired by the season to keep moving forward—finding new ways to nourish our community, support local makers, and tread more lightly on the planet. From our evolving menu to exciting partnerships and local events, it’s all part of our mission to grow with purpose.

Sustainability in the Spotlight

City Magazine’s Earth Issue

In his thoughtful photo essay, Pushing Peas: How a Plant-Based Meal Delivery Serves More Than Nutrition, Roberto Felipe Lagares captured what sustainability looks like behind the scenes at Sweet Pea—from pallets of local organic goods to buckets of compostable scraps to our efforts to support other local food businesses through co-manufacturing.

“A major goal for Sweet Pea is to mirror the sustainable lifestyle they help cultivate for their clients in their own business practices.”

Climate Solutions Accelerator

Sweet Pea cofounder, Chef Ryan Jennings, recently had an inspiring conversation on the Shelling Peas podcast with Abigail McHugh-Grifa of the Climate Solutions Accelerator. Together, they explored how the choices we make around food ripple outward to impact the planet.

The Accelerator is doing important work right here in our community, and we were honored to take part in their Better Future Fair this past weekend, as part of the larger Climate Solutions Summit focused on collective action for a healthier, more sustainable future.

Economic Gardening in Inc. Magazine

This month, Inc. Magazine featured Sweet Pea in their article on Economic Gardening—a business growth strategy that prioritizes community assets, data-driven insights, and sustainable expansion over short-term cost-cutting.

Our participation in the program, alongside other local businesses, has helped us refine our growth strategy and scale our co-manufacturing capabilities to support fellow food makers across the region.
